This is a featured upload! It showcases the best talent and creativity available on MTS and in the community.

Just want to relax and let your mind wander? To enjoy freshly caught fish at the restaurant “Friday's”, which is known across the island’s borders? To rediscover your own creativity? Welcome to Northeney, here you can do all this!

For a long time Northeney had stood in the shadow of larger neighbor’s islands. But especially in the last few years this has proved to be a great advantage. While the others have turned into tourist ghettos, Northeney can offer (almost) untouched nature. Enjoy endless walks in the dunes, experience fantastic sunsets (weather permitting), have a barbecue at the beach.
However, please don’t forget to bring a rain jacket and warm socks - here on the island in the Northern hemisphere the weather can change quickly!
Please note also that large parts of the dunes are subject to nature conservancy protection. Please keep on designated trails. Camping is only allowed at official camp sites. Please take your litter with you and keep your dog on a leash at all times.

After two years of working on this world it’s finally ready for release. It started as a small vacation world but somehow grew into a full world.
Northeney is a bit of a mixture of locations. In our world it would probably be located in the South-Western part of the Baltic Sea. Inspirational pictures below are from Hiddensee and the Zingst peninsula. But then, I took a lot of liberties with style and landscaping so it’s not a “real” place anymore. It’s not intended to be a recognisable place.

Things to note about Northeney:
  • It’s a roadless world. It may take some time until the sims have reached their destination. Also, this comes with some restrictions (see below).
  • The world contains most career rabbitholes (with the help of rabbithole rugs, see below).
  • The lighthouse is working - but the effect is only visible if you are on the lot or very close by.
  • The world comes with custom lighting/weather. So if you have a global lighting mod you might want to take it out to see how the island is meant to look.
  • A save is included in the download (see more details below). It will add population and fix some things that cannot be done in CAW. Even if you don't intend to play with the included population I recommend starting any new game in Northeney by the provided save.

Requirements
Required Expansions: World Adventures, Late Night, Ambitions, Pets, Seasons, Generations, Showtime, Supernatural, University Life, Isla Paradiso, Into the Future
No store content, no Stuff Packs required
Built on patch level: 1.67.2.024

Required cc:
- Jynx’ rabbithole rugs (pets fixed) for stadium, business and journalism, hospital, spa, town hall, science, movie theater, bookstore, grocery from here: http://www.modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=552847, post #6, you only need the basegame ones
- Misty’s rabbithole rugs for bistro , equestrian centre (both Naughty Sims Asylum, reqistration required) and resort (simsl3gacies, it's called Island Paradise Rabbit Hole Rug)

Overview

The island is roughly divided in to three parts - the town, the village and the remainder In the town you’ll find most rabbitholes and residentals. It’s the cultural center of the island and offers plenty of activities.

The village consists mostly of former farm houses or houses for the farm workers. They have been turned into family homes, often with stables. Orchards and pastures are close.

Large parts of the island are dunes though, inviting long walks at the beach or exploring the area on horseback. Fishing is possible almost everywhere.

List of Residental lots
All residental lots are fully usable and ready to play. To keep object count low, only some are fully decorated, some of them come with basic furniture only. All are CaSt'ed in the style of the world. Quite a few of them offer enough space to expand housing. Some lots are rather tiny though

Playing in a roadless world
Our lovely little island is happy to welcome visitors and new residents. Please be advised that in order to maintain our quaint and quiet way of life, there are no vehicles permitted in Northeney - no cars, no bikes, no scooters, no brooms, no buses, no taxis, no limos, no trucks, and no carpool.
  • We do not offer pizza delivery or maid service.
  • Our last repair technician has moved off island, so please check out a DIY book.
  • We welcome children, and they walk to our excellent school. We love them so much that we don't send them to boarding school.
  • We do not enforce our teen curfew.
  • There are no child adoption services on the island.
  • Though the main land reports the occasional alien encounter, our skies are free of UFOs, though you may meet a green resident or visitor out and about town.
  • We are happy to provide mail service and daily newspaper delivery.
A butler service will be available.

Thanks and credits
Huge thanks to Crowkeeper, willky12 and attuned, whose constant support and practical help made this world possible. Also to SimmyRN, mammut, maramaja06, ktarsims and Don Babilon for testing and advice.

Jynx and Misty for their Rabbithole Replacements
HP and Awesims for their fabulous textures
willky12: all dive lots and decoration of the flower shop
Crowkeeper: Beach, Beach bar and beach souvenir shop, interiour design boathouse residental
attuned for interiour design and name of Come Clean lot
willky12, Crowkeeper, Roocheysims, Titosims, AcquireSimoleons for population
Brntwaffles for their lighting mods which I used as base for the custom lighting for this world

Known Issues
  • The names of the rabbitholes don't survive CAW export. If you don't use the provided save you will have to rename them yourself.
  • The game likes to respawn the trash can in the resort in front of the entrance stairs no matter where I place it. Better to move it someplace else to avoid potential (but not very likely) routing issues (fixed in savegame).
  • If you don't use the provided save, please note that in some fresh games the Seaport lot and the Black Gull lot are not accessible due to the way the lots are built. This does not happen in every fresh game. But if it does, enter build mode on these lots and set the front of the lot again. This should resolve the issue for this save. If you start a fresh game in this world, you might have to do it again.
  • Please note that plattform and slide into the ocean in the Old Boathouse Pool are decorative only. Sims cannot use it, nor can they climb onto that plattform. If you try to make them, they will show the weirdest routing and eventually get stuck. You will have to manually reset them in this case.
  • Wild horses tend to get stuck in the town. I recommend to play without this option. I also recommend to use NRAAS Overwatch to tidy up some other EA bugs.
  • There are different versions of the Bistro and Equestrian Centre Rabbithole rugs floating around. So in case they are missing in Northeney please manually replace them with the version you have installed. Please don't use two different versions of the same RH rug at the same time, I'm not sure if this wouldn't cause conflicts. The Equestrian RH rug should be located at the Bytzel-Anger (the big lot with the horse training course), the Bistro RH rug is supposed to be at the Harbour Master's Office.
  • The names for the seasonal festival days at the festival lot don't seem to survive caw export. So if you have only generic names for them feel free to apply whatever names you want for them (fixed in savegame).
  • You will need to reset/replace the ITF-Elevator at the Institute for Science or your sims won't be able to use it. This is an EA bug.

You must have the expansion or stuff packs listed below installed to use this custom content. Please see the post text for any exceptions.

Don't forget to Thank the creator after downloading! Use the Thanks button located above the screenshots above.
Quick Guide:

1. Click the file listed on the Files tab to download the file to your computer.
2. Extract the zip, rar, or 7z file. Now you will have either a .package or a .sims3pack file.

For Package files:

1. Cut and paste the file into your Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Mods\Packages folder. If you do not already have this folder, you should read the full guide to Package files first: Sims 3:Installing Package Fileswiki, so you can make sure your game is fully patched and you have the correct Resource.cfg file.
2. Run the game, and find your content where the creator said it would be (build mode, buy mode, Create-a-Sim, etc.).

For Sims3Pack files:

1. Cut and paste it into your Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Downloads folder. If you do not have this folder yet, it is recommended that you open the game and then close it again so that this folder will be automatically created. Then you can place the .sims3pack into your Downloads folder.
2. Load the game's Launcher, and click on the Downloads tab. Find the item in the list and tick the box beside it. Then press the Install button below the list.
3. Wait for the installer to load, and it will install the content to the game. You will get a message letting you know when it's done.
4. Run the game, and find your content where the creator said it would be (build mode, buy mode, Create-a-Sim, etc.).

Extracting from RAR, ZIP, or 7z: You will need a special program for this. For Windows, we recommend 7-Zip and for Mac OSX, we recommend Keka. Both are free and safe to use.

@Christmas-Carol Hi, hope you will lots of fun (re-)discovering the game! As this is a roadless world I doubt that that space car will be usable. The way EA designed vehicles is that they all require roads (even brooms!). So try it, I might be wrong, but please don't be disappointed if it doesn't work. Aliens walk on Northeney as does everybody else

Hello! I really love Northeney, it's so charming! I am having an issue though, with one sim: Kenan Aydogdu. He's level 3 journalism, and that seems to be causing some issues. He will reset constantly when trying to go to work, and his skills don't show in the skill panel. Unless I have him quit his job, then all is well. ?? It's really strange. I have many of the Nraas mods, and awesomemod, all updated. I suppose I could just try having him in another career, but any idea why this may be happening? I'd like him to fulfill his (original) lifetime wish!

@jdewdrop Sorry to hear you are having trouble wiith Kenan's career! Not sure what might cause this though, I never had any of these issues. Do you have any mods that interfere with the business career/skills or maybe skill building? Or maybe make him quit his job and then reassign with the help of NRAAS mods? Maybe he is stuck in an opportunity? I'm sorry, I can only guess here.

Thanks for the reply! No, I don't believe I have any mods that are interfering with the journalism career, I've never had this issue before. But looking at all the script errors, they all say "System.IndexOutOfRangeException: Array index is out of range.". Some of the errors reference the journalism career/stories and reviews metric, and some indicate a problem with awesome mod. I did try having him quit his career and then add with MC, but it had the same issue. So weird! Regardless, I dig the world, and will try asking at Nraas perhaps.

I did yes, using MC. And I tried loading the game without awesomemod, as that was referenced in the error logs, but his career is still messed up - like the rug isn't properly generating the career. By stage 3 of journalism, you need stories and reviews, and that won't show up under the career tab, in fact, homework was listed instead. I was able to play him for a time and he had the ability to "question" a sim, rather than interview him!

**Edit: I reset everything and replaced the rabbithole rug and all seems well!! Off to play this lovely town, thank you for making and sharing it!**

This world is so beautiful, I was able to load it up and was amazed at how it looked. I'm definitely looking forward to starting a legacy here.
I did not actually get to play and save though, because when the world loaded (with the save file included here), a message popped up saying there were missing objects. I downloaded all the rabbithole rugs that were linked and have all EPs. I'm on patch 1.67 as well. What could be missing?

@xelectrictwist Mh, not sure what could be happening here. I know that there is sometimes a bit mix-up with the RH rugs as there are many versions available in different places. Do you (or did) have different ones in game? Did you delete all cache files before starting a new game?

I've never had other rabbithole rugs installed. I got all the ones linked in the description. I think it's just the rabbithole rugs not being placed correctly, I did check out the world today and it looked fine, despite the "missing objects" popup message when I loaded (I loaded up the Northerney save, which I didn't save last time I opened it). And yeah, the second time I loaded the world I did delete my cache beforehand.

So maybe just check if all RH rugs are in place and in case they are not, place them again? I'm sorry I don't have a real answer for you. There was no other cc used nor store content.

I'd like to report that I'm having the same issue. I am not using AwesomeMod, but I am using many Nraas mods among others. Kenan is an inactive Sim so I only noticed the issue thanks to Nraas StoryProgression spamming script errors with level 3 of his career.

I tried to check if this happens to other Sims in that career, but it turns out he's the only journalist so far. For now, I promoted him to level 4 through Master Controller, I'll post an update on whether this makes a difference.

Ah, I missed this reply. It turned out that promoting Kenan to level 4 didn't solve the issue, so I made his family active to check things out more closely.

I replaced the rug and reset it for good measure, then demoted and promoted Kenan back to level 3. The problem was still there, his career tab would get buggy (mine showed Mood - Athletic).

I used MC on his wife to switch her to level 3 Journalism and to my surprise it works for her without issues. So it seems the problem is with the specific Sim.

I don't plan to play that family, so I could just end his existence and call it a day... but I hate doing that to pre-mades, especially ones someone clearly spent precious time on to give the town its special feel. I hope I can figure this out. >_<

@Loveternity Sorry to hear you are having these troubles, too! I tried to reproduce your errors in new games but couldn't. Didn't get any error messages for Kenan. When I played that family in a new save he got two job opportunities, could write storys and reviews and dive into the neighbour's trash cans to write reviews about them. The career tab showed just fine. He got promoted to level 4 the 3rd day of playing.
I'm not sure how to help you here, it seems a rather specific problem. Maybe reset Kenan again and put him in a different career?

#115 Old 25th Oct 2018 at 3:39 PM
@Norn Thank you for the effort to try to reproduce this. The fact that you can't probably means it's mod-related on my part (I play a pretty heavily-modded game, but other than Nraas Career modules I don't believe I have anything that affects careers).

I have reset every object in town with Master Controller (the "Reset Everything" option) but the problem persists. What I've ended up doing is have Kenan quit his job, then used Story Progression to stop him from joining the Journalism career specifically. Not an optimal solution, but he gets to do anything else he wants for his family and I don't have to suffer the script error spam. xD

Thanks again for trying to help and for this wonderful world. <3

Hello there ! I want to download your world but before I do that I have to ask : Can I skip the rabbithole rugs (as in will the world still be playable without them) ? The reason is I have this mod http://modthesims.info/d/568897/add...university.html which states there can be possible conflics with Sims Asylum rabbithole mods. Since my game would lag SO BADLY without it, uninstalling the mod is a no-go. If there is an alternative to them (preferably registration free) I will be glad to know about it!

Hi @SeitamaGenos
Honestly, I don't know! The creator of the mod talks of Bluejenjutsu's mods. These are not the RH rugs but other mods.

The RH rugs use the same script as the original Rabbithole shells but with a different object (not a shell but a rug). I would assume that their entry points for sims were modified though so that they fit the smaller footprints of the rugs (also there is only one entry point for each rug as far as I'm aware). So it might work or it might not. You will have to try.

Of course you don't have to use the RH rugs for playing this world. There won't be any Rabbithole functionality in this case - no careers, no classes etc. I would also strongly recommend not to use the provided savegame in this case, as most of the sims have jobs in one RH career or the other and it would probably mess some things up if the rabbithole rugs were missing suddenly.

You can place whatever RH replacement works for you instead, or try to put the original Rabbithole shells in the basements of the buildings.
Hope that helps!

@SueSimming Did you put the savegame folder in your EA user folder? The save doesn't have a household picture as you can see in the DL post. Also, if you have a lot of saves you will probably need to scroll back quite a bit, as the saves are ordered chronologically.

This is a beautiful world; thank you for sharing! I am really enjoying this world, particularly the architecture.

I just wanted to mention that I too had AwesomeMod repeatedly throwing up "flagrant system errors," and wanted to document my experience for anyone else in the same boat. As recommend, I tried deleting and replacing the rabbithole rug. This stopped the AM errors, but I then started getting constant script errors from Overwatch/Error Trap. I also tried quitting Kenan Aydogdu's career and re-adding it, resetting him, resetting everything with Master Controller, and doing all of these things in varying orders, but the issue persisted. I also noticed that his career tab listed the incorrect career goals—it was showing only "mood" at one point, or "charisma," weirdly. I also had an issue where the Aydogdu family would still appear in the portraits on the left after switching to a different household. Because of this, I figured it was an issue with the Sim, not the rabbithole.

This was the solution for me: I started the save again, deleted the family, replaced the RH rug just to be safe, and then promoted a different Sim to Journalism level 3. That Sim had all career goals showing correctly, no issues when switching active household, and I've let time run on for a few Sim hours with no AM or Overwatch errors.

And just an aside to anyone who deleted the rug and wants the custom rabbithole name back: get Debug Enabler from NRAAS, then click on the rabbithole map tag or rug in Live mode. Click options and right at the top you'll see "Change Name."

@FakeHouses|RealAwesome Thank you for your investigations and advice! I'm sorry I can't be of more help here, I don't have those issues in my game. It seems to be a problem with specific mod combinations. Or maybe others just don't report this issue. Anyway, I'm glad you found a solution for your game!
