I have a family that runs the town grocery store. I like transferring the lot ownership to the youngest generation asap so I don't forget, which also requires me to have my Sim "give gift" and give all of the produce in their inventory to the new owner, because the game doesn't let Sims restock crafted items if they're not specifically in the owner's inventory. I hate having to click the object, click the arrow, click the next object, and so on 100+ times.

In my game, I don't have to click the arrow, click the object, etc. I transfer one item, then keep clicking and the inventory offers up the next item each time automatically.

I'm wondering what makes the changing table and the crib so different than the baby item swing and play mat...
Sims will autonomously use the first 2, nanny included, but never will they place a baby in the second 2. Why?
I checked, and autonomy is set to be autonomous.

It's the level of "advertising", or so I've been led to believe..I don't know which setting it is in SimPE but it has to be higher than ordinary items.

It seems to have the same as the changing table and crib, but I'll double check. Thank you.

There's more than advertising that goes in to it. Setting something to be autonomous and raising it's advertising to the moon doesn't always mean they'll use it. Have yet to figure out what more needs to change, but there's definitely something with some items. And with baby things it's tricky since the needs that need addressing aren't the needs of the Sim choosing the interaction, it's the baby. In that case I don't believe advertising would do anything at all, you need to change the bhavs that make Sims choose an action.

If you have questions on how to use SimPE or WW, you're welcome to PM me.

Could you share the relevant files or numbers so I can check this, too? It's a question I'm interested in as well, especially for babies, so I'd enjoy checking out these items, but could use a shortcut to finding them.

I use the ones with altered bladder needs. Maxis has it set so babies cry very easily in the baby toys due to bladder need only it's not set set low, it's set high, by mistake I guess.

The game parses the action to glean what benefits there actually is, advertising a benefit that isn't actually given does not work for long. Sims will look for things that raise their lowest motives and it depends on what else there is on the lot, if you're going to raise fun but there is a lot more fun things a sim could do on the lot it's not going to be very attractive but if it raises social and there's not much else for social then as a sim's social motive declines it becomes a lot more attractive. The advertised benefits are more used for if a sim should stop, if a motive is getting critically low and the current action advertises that motive then the sim will keep on going.

Please excuse me for being such a noob but I have a question. There is a apartment complex in my hood whit 4 apartments. My sim lives in one and next to her a man who is a total scumbag as he always want's to fight whit everyone. I like the other sims at the lot so how do I make sure that just the man moves away from the area? As his apartment is rated "unoccupied" by the game I'm sure I can have a playable sim taking over his place but does he move away completely or just one apartment away, throwing one of the other nice sims out of the area?

The townie in the apartment you choose will just move out, no shuffling.

You don't need to apologize or feel embarrassed for asking questions. It's what this thread is for.

Hmm, I'm not 100% positive that the same sims will move in every time, but I feel like that is a possibility, especially since dorms exhibit a similar behavior after a lot has been moved into for the first time. Then again, the landlord seems to be completely random and can change all the time.

So, @Mrmo, you could backup your game and try moving in and moving out and see if the lot resets the neighbors, but I think the best and easiest way would be to just move the problem neighbor in somewhere and make that sim playable. Once moved in, the game will pick someone new to inhabit the apartment, and then you can do whatever you like with the townie--make him a townie again or "dispose" of him in your favorite manor.

ETA: Moving in another playable works too! Silly me for not reading the question correctly, .

It won't - in my experience anyway. It tends to move in the same person. See my (long - sorry) post

Move a sim of yours, in the unit that is now occupied by the Townie you wish to see gone. The one you like will remain in his/hers. (remain as in..will go back to live in it.)

That makes sense maxon, it's what I see all the time in Uni and playing dorms. But since I hadn't tested it myself, I wasn't certain if the same would happen a)in apartments and b) if you placed a fresh copy of the lot.

I wonder why, then that the landlord is so different. My game truly seems to pick them at random and they don't seem to be tied to the lot at all. I've even had cases of sims living on the same apartment lot having different landlords! (Rare cases, but it has happened.)

Well, in a neighbourhood that wasn't empty on creation - where you don't have empty templates (so that the neighbourhood gets created empty of sims), and with the no-regen hacks, there will be three landlords to choose from (by the game) because the game will spawn three of them without modding. Hmmm - that's a complicated way of saying if you create a vanilla neighbourhood with no user-made changes to prevent sim creation, you'll get three landlords by default. Anyway, I guess the game will call up one of those each time, perhaps in a cycle. I don't know much about that since I do play empty custom hoods with the no-regen hacks and only have one landlord who turns up everywhere.

That's probably it, as I believe the dorm cooks are the same--not the same each time. The game must either cycle though them or randomly pick them. It's still a little weird to me though, that the game would think the people who live in the apartment should stay the same, but not the person who manages it.

Is there a way to create a panoramic entrance for your own towns, the way that the premades do? I know you can rename the custom town to a premade's name (right?) but I don't exactly want to: A), name my town Strangetown, or B), Lose the actual Strangetown or its panoramic by renaming it.

You can only get a flyover by using one of these preset names.
Pleasantview, Strangetown, Veronaville, Riverblossom Hills, Desiderata Valley, Belladonna Cove, Sedona, Europa or Lakeview.
It's a series of pre-programmed camera moves and it's a maxis secret. I have read that Lakeview is glitchy.

How do Sedona, Europa, and Lakeview get flyovers? I know Sedona is a terrain, but I've not heard of Europa or Lakeview.

They were the original names used for the hoods they were making before they went with Pleasantview, Strangetown and Veronaville.

These 6 have flyovers and if you name them as such you can get flyovers just like we did for "Sodona" hood we made. http://modthesims.info/download.php?t=563454

Europa was an old / preliminary name for Veronaville. Not sure about the other two. Sedona has an entry in one of the neighborhood files (cannot remember; I think it was NeighborhoodManager or something) whereas I've never seen or heard of Lakeview before. It makes you wonder if Pleasantview is Lakeview, Strangetown is Sedona, and Veronaville is Europa... I like the name "Lakeview". quite nice. "Sedona" fits the whole "desert" atmosphere which Strangetown has.

And I think Riverside? Any hood you name after a maxis made hood - Lakeview and others, I believe, were planned hoods but never made it into the game.
